 The Road to the Altar

There is a road leads down to the altar,
Where good folks go to pray,
And every burden that is brought there,
Neath the blood of Jesus must stay.

There is a broad road leads down to darkness,
Where this old world has reaped its toll,
Oh how the mighty have fallen,
Forging a chain for their precious soul.

At the fork in the road be so careful,
Lest you enter the way of death,
Stay clear of the way of destruction,
Let a prayer to the Lord be on your breath.

Run to the altar my good brother,
Let your tears flow down like a river,
Leave your sins in the hands of Jesus,
In the charge of the great sin forgiver.
